Ofsted October 2020
On Tuesday 20th October the school had an Ofsted visit. This was part of their research into how England’s education system is managing the return to full education for students, following an extended break in formal schooling due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
Ofsted’s visits to schools during this autumn term are not inspections. They are not giving graded judgements. The information from this visit will feed into Ofsted’s national reporting so that the insights can be shared with the government and the education sector.
While the purpose of the visit was not to evaluate our provision, we were pleased to share with them our arrangements for remote learning and for our curriculum provision throughout the year. They noted the continued breadth of our curriculum, despite the introduction of year group bubbles, and the assessment processes in place to ensure gaps in knowledge are addressed. We also spent some time sharing the work we do with Commando Joes and Thrive and looked at how this supports wellbeing.
Here is the letter the Ofsted team sent to us after their visit:
Since joining the Active Learning Trust, Gusford has continued its journey of improvement and the Active Learning Trust has helped us with improving our curriculum, teaching and learning, developing our middle leaders and assessment and intervention.
