Our school day:
Our school day begins with a soft start, where children come in and complete arithmetic work. We then move onto our morning lessons, of English skills (phonics or reading, spelling, grammar and handwriting and writing) and Maths.
At lunchtimes and playtimes, we spend time as phase where we have a variety of activities.
Our afternoon sessions focus on the foundation subjects of Science, History or Georgraphy alongside Spanish, Religious Education (RE), Physical Education (PE), Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE and RSE), Computing, Design Technology (DT) or Art. Additionally, Year 3 have a weekly Music lesson and Year 4 have a weekly instrumental lesson where we learn how to play the violin, clarinet or trumpet which is taught by a specialist teacher from Suffolk County Music Service.
There are also planned opportunities to develop oracy skills throughout the day. These focus on developing a variety key speaking and listening skills necessary for effective communication and collaboration. As part of this, children visit the library weekly where they can immerse themselves in reading.
We run a range of lunchtime and after school clubs alongside an extensive programme of trips and visits to add depth, variety and colour to our curriculum.
