Travel to school
Earlier this month there was an accident at the end of the day, as one of our pupils was crossing Sheldrake Drive. Thank goodness everyone was fine. However, we are now working with Sufflk County Council who are helping us look at what else we can do to ensure nothing similar ever happens again. It has also made us look at healthier ways we can encourage our children travel to school.

We made a video about using the Zebra crossing outside our school.
We have run several walk to school initiatives.

In February, 35 children took part in the Bikeability programme.

We have just appointed 4 Junior Road Safety Officers.

WALKING BUS to MINI-BUS
Chantry Academy, who are in the same Trust as us (ALT), have very kindly lent us one of their mini-buses, so that we can pick up a number of our children in the mornings. Thank you.

Last Summer we set up a special course to encourage our children to consider bringing their scooters to school.

Mr Bland ran a scooter session during our Enterprise week.

We ran a competition to design a bookmark that would help the children remember how to cross the road.

These were the winning entries.

Did you know Mr Garwood teaches our Reception children how to ride a Balance Bike?

In the Summer, Mr Bland and Mr Garwood set up a Balance Bike course for our Reception children. We all went out to watch. This Summer, we are making it into a whole school competition (Tour de Gusford).

We made these videos with the children to help, if you were cycling to school.
How to put a chain back on.
How to fix a puncture.
