Travel to school
In February this year, there was an accident at the end of the day, as one of our pupils was crossing Sheldrake Drive. Thank goodness everyone was fine. However, it made us reassess... we have now teamed up with Suffolk County Council (Suffolk Road Safe and Active Travel) to address the issue; they are helping us look at what else we can do to ensure it never happens again. It has also made us look at healthier and more sustainable ways we can encourage our children to travel to school. Please tell us about any ideas that you may have which might also help at the start and the end of the day. Thank you for your support.

WALKING BUS to MINI-BUS
Chantry Academy, who are in the same Trust as us (ALT), have very kindly lent us one of their mini-buses, so that we can pick up a number of our children in the mornings. Thank you.

Last Summer we set up a special course to encourage our children to consider bringing their scooters to school.

Mr Bland ran a scooter session during our Enterprise week.

We ran a competition to design a bookmark that would help the children remember how to cross the road.

These were the winning entries.

Did you know Mr Garwood teaches our Reception children how to ride a Balance Bike?

In the Summer, Mr Bland and Mr Garwood set up a Balance Bike course for our Reception children. We all went out to watch. This Summer, we are making it into a whole school competition (Tour de Gusford).

We made these videos with the children to help, if you were cycling to school.
How to put a chain back on.
How to fix a puncture.

The Greenpower project not only developed the pupils' STEM skills but also reinforced the school’s focus on sustainability.
Gusford Primary School is in its second year of the Eco Schools programme and has been awarded the Eco Schools flag in recognition of its environmental work.
The programme aims to empower students to take meaningful action on climate change and sustainability.
